“The Assasins”, one of the epic historical fictions that Chinese film industry has offered the international viewing public through the years, is going to be released in a Blu-ray 25 disc on this January 8. Presented with AVC encoded 1080p video, “The Assassins” is an extremely beautiful film with great production design; and there’re a couple of audio choices of DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and Dolby Digital 2.0, both for English and Mandarin.

Years after defeating all rival warlords to gain supremacy in northern China, Cao Cao (Chow Yun-Fat), a warlord of the late second and early third centuries, forced Emperor Xian to grant him the title of a vassal king, “King of Wei”. Cao Cao then had the Bronze Sparrow Platform constructed as a display of power, as rumors spread that he would replace the Emperor. Meanwhile, a pair of young lovers, who have undergone five years of training as assassins in a prisoner-of-war camp, are preparing to accomplish a secret mission, kill Cao Cao. That’s not enough. At the same time, Cao Pi, Cao Cao’s ambitious son, is torn between wanting his father to be Emperor and wanting to be Emperor himself.
“The Assassins” has been successfully tested for Region A playback.
