Everyone’s favorite haunted holiday — Halloween — is coming. You must be now planning how to make this holiday full of spooky fun. What about watching some movies to get a Halloween touch? And you must be excited to learn that 20th Century Fox Entertainment will release 2D and 3D Blu-ray editions of such a spooky movie Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter just on Oct. 23, 2012. Can you imagine Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, as the history’s greatest hunter of the undead?
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, starring Benjamin Walker, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rufus Sewell and Dominic Cooper, explores the secret life of Abraham Lincoln before he became President, and the untold story that shaped the American nation. As he discovers vampires are planning to take over the United States, he makes it his mission to eliminate them. The story is based on the new book of Seth Grahame-Smith, the author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. And visionary filmmakers Tim Burton (Dark Shadows) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) bring a fresh and visceral voice to the bloodthirsty lore of the vampire.

… I was pleasantly surprised that this movie had good acting, good writing, and an engaging plot. There are twists that keep the story interesting and moving forward. Character development is great because it incorporates sections where he is a boy, a young man, and then the president showing his growth as a person and vampire hunter until the final climax. Furthermore, the action scenes were awesome! It uses a technique where the camera switches from slow mo to fast paced, similar to Sherlock Holmes. It works really well. It may sound like a dumb movie, but I think people should give it a try. I was very happy I went to see it.
However, like most movies, this one, of course, is not able to escape the attention from the critics. It is remarked as “silly”, “has little humor”, “pure action/horror, with lots of revenge, blood, and fighting”, etc.
Whether it is silly or interesting, you can’t get conclusion until you see it with your own eyes. However, what’s for sure is that it’s definitely the right movie arriving in the right time for your Halloween. So, enjoy yourself!
