Don’t Shed Tears, Buddy: “FRIENDS” Are Here Today

November 13th, 2012 by DVDFab_Malcolm 13,740 views

Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
What are they feeding you?
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
It’s not your fault.
They won’t take you to the vet,
You’re obviously not their favorite pet.
Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat,
It’s not your fault.
You may not be a bed of roses,
You’re not friend to those with noses,
I’ll miss you before we’re done,
Or the world will smell as one.

Guys, you all remember this song? Yeah, you probably have figured it out. It comes from Phoebe Buffay, portrayed by Lisa Kudrow, my favorite role among the six leading characters in Friends. By the way, I like her songs and the style she sings best. Still remember others guys in Central Perk, Ross Geller, the doctor in paleontology who is proud in pronouncing every single word precisely and clearly, Rachel Green, the run-away-from-the-wedding bride who is still reluctant to give up living on her daddy’s credit cards after joining the group, Joey Tribbiani, the stupid but somewhat cute half actor who always reminisces the days of our lives, Monica Gellar, Ross’ chef younger sister who makes a name for her perfectionism, and bossy but competitive nature, and Chandler Bing, a semi-neurotic executive in statistical analysis and data reconfiguration known for his sarcastic sense of humor and bad luck in relationships? This wildly received American sitcom, co-created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, which initially aired on NBC from September 22, 1994 to May 6, 2004, centers on love, sex, relationships, and careers of this group of friends in Manhattan.

Rachel Green — Jennifer Aniston                Ross Geller — David Schwimmer
Monica Geller — Courteney Cox                 Chandler Bing — Matthew Perry
Phoebe Buffay — Lisa Kudrow                  Joey Tribbiani — Matt LeBlanc

It was reported at that time that the series finale, the 236th episode, airing on May 6, 2004, was watched by 51.1 million American viewers, making it the 4th most watched TV show finale in television history and the most watched episode of the decade. Globally, Friends also successfully captured millions of youngster audiences, even the then popular Family Album USA failed to do that. It won many awards and was nominated for the 63rd Emmy Awards. It even impacted peoples’ everyday life: Jennifer’s hairstyle in the show was nicknamed as “the Rachel” and was copied all over the world, and “How you doin’?”, Joey’s famous catchphrase, became a popular slang in Western English, often used as a pick-up line or when greeting friends. As of now, Friends is still one of the most popular sitcoms to date.
