“This Is 40” Coming on Blu-ray — Love It or Leave It

“This Is 40” is a hilarious comedy wrote and directed by Judd Apatow, which depicts the lives of spouses Pete and Debbie as they’re living through their midlife crises. It will hit on Blu-ray on March 22, 2013. Grad it or rent it; love it or leave it. Read on to help your decision-making.

Middle aged Pete and Debbie (Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann) love each other, but just like everybody says “it’s the rule”, a healthy marriage is not always healthy. Trouble and tension strikes, and they are struggling with their crisis filled and hilarious midlife – Pete is on the verge of bankruptcy. He has a needy father who is still hitting up on him for money, and also has a couple of friends who happen to be not so much of supporters. On the other hand, Debbie’s submerged in her own problems. Just as her 40th birthday is approaching, her absentee dad reenters her life, her money is mysteriously drained from her clothing boutique and, she finds herself facing an unplanned pregnancy with two children already in tow (it’s a special feature that Apatow put his own children in the movie). However, there is no infidelity issue between them no matter how crises mount day by day in their lives. Yes, they often squabble with each other, but they love, and only love, each other. This is warm.

You’ll want to know both sides of this coin. Criticism goes to “This Is 40” that it is a mashup of a series of loosely related bits and sketches cobbled together. It drags, it comes to a dead stop sometimes, and it ends abruptly.

However, you can be 100% guaranteed that if in any case you are not that much into his movie, it will never be the video and audio quality on the account. Universal’s 1080p/AVC-encoded video transfer and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround track will offer you enjoyable audiovisual experiment.

The appropriate audiences of this movie are obviously supposed to be those sailing through their thirties, and approaching or entering their forties. For me, going towards the end of my twenties, I always love movies telling midlife stories rather than young people dramas. I’m prone to be touched with the warmth, love, resilience, silent struggle, and much more, from the characters of those movies. What about you?
