After 13 Years’ Waiting, Finally Comes the Time to Suit up to Find Dory

Bet everybody here, Pixar fan or not, still remembers Nemo, that little abducted clownfish whose overprotective dad Marlin, in order to find him, searched across the entire ocean all the way to the Sydney Harbor. Undoubtedly, Finding Nemo, as one of the masterpieces from Pixar Studio, along with others like A Bug’s Life, The Incredibles, Toy Stories, Cars, and etc, is still one of the best computer generated animation films in the entire film history.

 

However, Finding Nemo was originally aired in 2003, and in the years thereafter, Toy Story has seen its 3^rd sequel, and even Cars 2 has gained wild popularity worldwide, the Studio has kept us waiting for such a long period that many even wonder if there is ever gonna be a Finding Nemo 2. The good news is yes there is. On June 17, the long-awaited sequel Finding Dory, after 13 years time, eventually hit the big screen.

 

Andrew Stanton, who 13 years ago directed the original Finding Nemo, returned this time both as the director and the writer, other crews includes Angus MacLane as the co-director, and Victoria Strouse and Finding Nemo’s co-writer Bob Peterson as writers. The film features the voices of Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Hayden Rolence, Ed O’Neill, Kaitlin Olson, Ty Burrell, Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy.

 

Instead of the clownfish, this time Finding Dory’s storyline begins with Dory, the amnesiac tang fish. One year after Nemo reunited with Marlin, Dory started to have some dreams and flashbacks, no matter how fragmental there were, reminded Dory some memories about her own life before meeting Marlin and Nemo, particularly about her own parents. Then, it was the lecture from Mr. Ray about sea animal migration finally triggered her strong desire to find her own parents. However, all she can traced back from her poor vague memory was that they lived at the “the Jewel of Morro Bay, California”. Although being reluctant to allow Dory to risk her life again by travelling across the ocean, Marlin eventually decided to accompany Dory in her new adventure. With help from Crush, Dory, Marlin and Nemo ride the ocean current to California and begin their second ocean adventure…

 

Finding Dory has received many positive reviews from critics since its first debut on June 17 in America and Canada, and has grossed over $186 million worldwide in just three days. It is believed that it will become the best-ever sequel Pixar has made in almost two decades. Do you have time for it in the theatre?
